MLB Home Runs Leader: A Statistical Analysis

MLB Home

Introduction

I was curious about how many home runs were hit by each team. I decided to use a bar graph because it would make it easy to see which teams hit the most home runs. The teams with the most home runs were St. Louis, New York, and Colorado, who had 262, 255, and 250 respectively. The team with the fewest home runs was Philadelphia with just 81.

A bar graph is the best way to visualize data and get an overall idea of how each team performs in this case. There are many ways you can analyze your data, but I think that graphical representation is more efficient than using tables or charts alone.
The first thing that caught my attention was how many teams were represented throughout all three sections: National League, American League, and Wild Card (which includes two teams from each league). The second thing that struck me as odd was how close some of these numbers were; for example, Anaheim hit 23 home runs in 2015 but only five so far this season despite having played one less game than their opponents (Colorado).

The teams with the most home runs were St. Louis, New York, and Colorado, who had 262, 255, and 250 respectively. The teams with the fewest home runs were Philadelphia and San Diego (with 136), who also finished dead last in team batting average (.240).
The team with the most home runs was St. Louis (with 219), followed by Los Angeles (192) and Boston (167).

The team with the fewest home runs was Philadelphia with just 81.

The team with the most home runs was St. Louis (105), while New York came in second with 94 and Colorado third with 93.

A bar graph is a great way to visualize this data so you can easily see which teams had the most home runs. By using a bar graph, we can see that the San Francisco Giants have the most home runs in MLB history, with 753. The New York Yankees are second with 668 and Boston Red Sox third with 550. The Atlanta Braves are fourth with 537, followed by St Louis Cardinals (505), Chicago Cubs (482), Los Angeles Dodgers (477), Detroit Tigers (470), and Baltimore Orioles (462).

Conclusion
